Exercise is our first pillar of a healthy lifestyle. Exercise is moving your body. Any movement, whether walking in the park, on a treadmill, running, taking an aerobics or zumba class, dancing, cycling and/or spinning class, it is all considered exercise. Exercise has been proven to increase life expectancy and overall quality of life. Science based evidence shows us the significant benefits of exercise. Moderate levels of exercise have been correlated with preventing aging by reducing inflammation and so forth.
Nutrition is our second pillar of a healthy lifestyle. Why? Eating healthy is an essential step to a healthy and balanced life. What you put in your body impacts how your body performs. Therefore, it's imperative to maintain a healthy diet to support a healthy lifestyle. There are many diets available, whether you eat right for your blood type, body size or age, food choices affect our body. Good choices help to reduce chronic disease, promote overall growth, maintain weight and so forth. Most importantly, staying healthy makes you feel good and live a happier life!
Rest/Healing is our third pillar of a healthy lifestyle. In fact, sleep helps your body to restore and repair different functions. And it's important after long days to truly get the rest your body needs to recharge your cells and recover for days ahead. There is science based evidence that proves that Rest/Healing gives the body a break and sleep allows your body to replenish and be ready for action when awake. Rest/Healing can help generate a positive attitude. After a good nights rest, your body and mind has had an opportunity to restore itself. In fact, with proper sleep hormone levels, energy levels, and stress levels have all been adjusted and can increase and stimulate the healing process. Getting enough sleep is a pivotal part of selfcare.
Mindfulness/Meditation is our fourth pillar of a healthy lifestyle. What is mindfulness? What is meditation? Mindfulness is not only a form of meditation, but a lifestyle. It is the ability to live and be present in the moment and to live in the now. There is science based evidence that Mindfulness/ Meditation are tools that can help to regulate our well being by helping us to manage stress and anxiety, and even heal and deal with chronic health conditions and so forth. These tools in fact, can help to reduce depression, anxiety, and stress and to generate happiness and better health overall. In his twenty year career, Edoardo directed a number of award winning films and plays. Recently, he wrote and directed the must see 2021 Golden Globe Awards nominated film, The Life Ahead that can be viewed on Netflix. His Mother, Sophia Loren, Ibrahima Gueye, Abril Zamora, Renato Carpentieri and Babak Karimi all star in this incredible story, based upon the 1975 novel The Life Before Us by Romain Gary. The 2021 GLAAD Media Awards nominated The Life Ahead for Outstanding Film. The film has received many nominations and wins, and so did, “Io Sì,” (Seen), the beautiful and original song that Laura Pausini and Diane Warren specifically wrote for The Life Ahead. In fact, after their win at the 2021 Golden Globes, in the category of Best Original Song – Motion Picture, they received an Oscar nomination at the 93rd Academy Awards, for Best Original Song and for making it the first song sung entirely in Italian to be nominated, and for Best Song at the 26th Critics' Choice Awards. According to Deadline, the online entertainment industry news site, The Life Ahead became a streaming hit, peaking within Netflix's top ten in 37 different countries. In this episode, Edoardo and I discuss some pivotal lessons that can be learned from The Life Ahead including empathy, connectivity, the struggles of life trauma, the beauty of humanity, and how love can build everlasting bonds between human beings.
